Cynthia Nixon worried Kim Cattrall’s ‘very small’ cameo in And Just Like That will disappoint fans

Cynthia Nixon has joined Sarah Jessica Parker in sharing her worry that fans will be underwhelmed by Kim Cattrall’s And Just Like That appearance.

The actress said she’s disappointed the news has leaked as there’s now so much buzz about Cattrall’s scene in the forthcoming series that the “very brief, very small cameo” is likely to be a let-down against expectations.

Nixon will return to the Sex and the City sequel as Miranda alongside Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York).

It was revealed last month that Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones, who was famously absent from the first season, will appear in the season two finale. The news went viral and has sparked a frenzy among fans.

But Nixon has said this was meant to be a secret and because of the leak viewers are likely to be left underwhelmed when the show hits screens.

“We were very disappointed that the secret leaked of Kim’s upcoming appearance," she told The Sunday Times.

“We so hoped it was something people wouldn’t know about until they saw the episode and that it would be a fun surprise as they were watching.

“I worry that with all the build-up people are going to wonder what all the fuss was about. It’s important to know that it is a very brief, very small cameo.”

Parker also said she “couldn’t have been more upset” about the leak.

“It’s a big bummer because it would’ve been so like fireworks in the middle, you know, and also because we want to make sure that expectations are real,” she said on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.

The scene will reportedly see Cattrall’s character reconnect with Parker’s over the phone.

Cattrall reportedly filmed the scene without seeing any of her former co-stars.

The hype around Catrall’s appearance is in part because she was a hugely popular character when she starred in Sex and the City, which ran for six seasons and spawned two films, released between 1998 and 2010.

The buzz is also due to Cattrall’s very public feud with Parker. In 2017 Cattrall started the row by claiming in an interview that she was “never friends” with her.

The pair have been at each other’s throats over the comment since.

Cattrall then publicly vowed never to star in any future Sex and The City projects. And Just Like That addressed her absence in the very first episode.

“It’s kind of like she’s dead – we never talk about her,” Carrie said in the scene. “She stopped returning my calls.”

Miranda replies: “Her pride got damaged,” with Carrie adding: “I thought I was more to her than an ATM. I always thought the four of us would be friends forever.”
