Cyclist seriously injured after hit and run on Penarth Road

South Wales Police is appealing for information after a cyclist was left with a "serious" leg injury following a hit and run incident. An unknown vehicle drove off following a collision with a pedal cycle on Penarth Road, in the direction of Cogan Spur, Penarth, on August 5, leaving the cyclist at the side of the road.

Police attended the scene at approximately 2.25am on Friday, August 5. The cyclist is said to still be receiving hospital treatment after sustaining a "serious leg injury." South Wales Police has released a statement appealing for any information following the incident.

A statement read: "At approximately 2.25am on Friday, August 5 officers attended a road traffic collision involving a unknown vehicle and a pedal cycle on Penarth Road in the direction of Cogan Spur, Penarth. The vehicle involved made off from the scene leaving the cyclist at the road side with a serious leg injury for which they are still receiving hospital treatment.

"Parts of the vehicle involved were left at scene which are being examined along with numerous lines of enquiries involving CCTV. The vehicle involved in the incident is suspected of having nearside damage along with damage to its nearside wing mirror.

"The driver of the vehicle of anyone else with information is asked to please contact South Wales Police quoting reference number *262136." Those with information are asked to contact South Wales Police online here or call 101.
