Cyclist rushed to hospital with 'head and neck' injuries following collision

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a collision involving a car.

The man, in his 50s, suffered head and neck injuries in the incident on Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, this morning (Monday October 31). It happened close to the junction with Mauldeth Road West at around 8.20am.

The cyclist was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by ambulance, the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"We were called on 31 October at 08:23 to reports of a RTC on Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, involving a cyclist and a vehicle," a NWAS spokesman said. "We sent one ambulance to the scene and took one male (in his 50s) with head and neck injuries to Wythenshawe Hospital."

A GMP spokesman added: "Greater Manchester Police were called to a report of a road traffic collision on Barlow Moor Road, Manchester involving a car and a cyclist at around 8:30am this morning (Monday 31 October 2022).

"The extent of the injuries are not known at this time as emergency services attended before referring the man to hospital for treatment. Although it is expected not to be life threatening."
