The first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 will likely come out in 2023, CD Projekt Red president Adam Kicinski announced during the company’s most recent earnings call, IGN reported Thursday.
CD Projekt Red has been tight-lipped about Cyberpunk 2077’s updates since last fall, which is still the case as the company didn’t divulge any details on what the expansion might entail. It’s disappointing, though somewhat understandable, since the company is still busy with bug-squashing patches. Thankfully, Kicinski reassured fans that there’s nothing to worry about regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s future.
“We’re fully committed to the Cyberpunk franchise and intend to develop it further,” Kicinski said.
As it was mentioned in @CDPROJEKTRED_IR financial call moments ago, Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming expansion will arrive in 2023. Please stay tuned for more details coming later this year 🦾 https://t.co/rq1w6RDTDL

One would hope so since CD Projekt Red also announced Thursday that Cyberpunk 2077 has gone on to sell more than 18 million copies thus far. Not bad at all for a game that very few people were big on at launch!
“We’ve recently released a new set of improvements for Cyberpunk 2077, and we are also working on the next update, 1.6, which will be out in the coming months,” Kicinski continues via PC Gamer. “Afterwards, support for [Cyberpunk 2077] will continue, but our focus will gradually shift to the new, exciting endeavors in both Cyberpunk and The Witcher franchises.”
Earlier this week, Cyberpunk 2077 quest director Pawel Sasko said it’s still too early to discuss anything about the expansion, so we probably should’ve seen the 2023 release date announcement coming.
