A cut through road near the M32 and M4 motorway will be closed for two weeks starting from today (Monday, March 13). Old Gloucester Road in Winterbourne will be closed until Friday, March 24 while work takes place to remove damaged and collapsed pipes.
Old Gloucester Road will be closed from Perrinpit Road to Trench Lane. South Gloucestershire Council's StreetCare team said: “We will be removing damaged and collapsed drainage pipes, which are currently limiting water flow and causing flooding.”
These works are part of a wider scheme to improve the flood resilience of key roads in South Gloucestershire funded by the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Local Highway Maintenance Challenge Fund Scheme. The council apologised for any disruptions caused by the roadworks and urged motorists to avoid the area and to take alternative routes if possible.
