Customers call on big supermarkets to stop selling Russian products amid Ukraine invasion

Customers are calling on the big supermarkets such as ASDA, Tesco, Co-op and Morrisons to stop selling Russian products amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

In a post where Tesco announced they are donating £1 million pounds to the British Red Cross, many customers made their opinions heard.

They wrote: "Our thoughts are with the people affected by the Ukraine crisis and with all those impacted at such a difficult time. We’re committed to supporting the relief efforts of those who need it."

Many customers thanked the supermarket in the comment, however some are calling on the grocer to remove all Russian produce including vodka from their shelves.

Anita O'Neill wrote: "Well done Tesco but, remove the Russian Vodka from your shelves. There’s plenty other countries including our own that make decent vodka."

Donna Rosanne Kantaris wrote: "This is good news but I ask that you go further and stop stocking/selling Russian sourced/made products, in line with other supermarket chains. I for one will no longer be buying any products sourced or made in Russia."

Darren Winsley added: "Good to hear this. NOW please go through your shelves with a fine tooth comb and get rid of everything Russian."

Sainsbury's announced on Sunday March 4 it had removed all Russian-sourced items from shelves due to the escalating war, along with ASDA, John Lewis and Lidl all doing the same.

Sainsbury's also announced they were changing the name of Chicken Kiev's to Chicken 'Kyiv, with the other major supermarkets being urged to do the same too.
