Australia captain Pat Cummins has reportedly left the Indian Premier League early to recuperate from a minor hip injury.
The paceman departed for hometown Sydney where he will complete his recovery ahead of Australia's one-day international and Test series in Sri Lanka next month.
Signed for $A1.34 million by the Kolkata Knight Riders, 29-year-old Cummins has managed the injury but his team are now only an outside chance of reaching the playoffs.
Kolkata, who take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, are seventh in the standings, four points off the last playoff place with six games remaining.
Cummins picked up seven wickets amid mixed form in five IPL games this season.
After a hot start with the bat, scoring the joint-fastest 50 in the tournament's history in his first game, Cummins admitted he had been short of his best with the ball.
He was dropped after going at 12 runs per over during his first four matches, with Kolkata preferring New Zealand's Tim Southee.
He bounced back to produce his best performance against Mumbai Indians on Monday, snaring 3-22.
