A primary school pupil from Lanarkshire managed to convince legendary DJ and radio host George Bowie to play at his leavers' prom after months of campaigning.
Aaron MacLeod of Abronhill Primary School talked the GBX DJ into the intimate gig by phoning in, writing to producers, and petitioning.
The campaign started when the 11-year-old spoke to George on the Kool Ride to School, chancing his arm by saying to the breakfast radio host himself that he had heard a rumour that he would be playing his P7 leavers' prom, to which George replied, “Nice try wee man”.

Since then, Aaron, alongside his mum Lynsey and dad David, worked hard to make the Cumbernauld youngster’s dream a reality, reports Lanarkshire Live.
David MacLeod said: “After he spoke on the Kool Ride to School, we started an online petition. Aaron even phoned up the GBX three times to try and persuade George.
“Between me, my Mrs and Aaron pestering George to come, he eventually did. You honestly couldn’t write it.
“George told him that shy kids don’t get sweeties, and that has never been truer.”
George Bowie surprised Abronhill Primary’s P7 leavers at their prom by playing a 30-minute set before his co-host Cassie took over.
Despite their months of campaigning, the family had no clue that the 55-year-old DJ would come and play.
David added: “We didn’t know he was coming. We were hopeful because he asked Aaron about the time and place of it, and that never went out on air. So that gave us hope.
“The only people that did know were the school and the DJ. When they turned up, the kids were absolutely buzzing, and you can hear Aaron shouting, ‘Georgie Boy’ in the Clyde1 video.
“The headteacher put us off the scent totally, but we would be happy hosting it in our back garden if there was any issue in George Bowie coming to play off the back of Aaron's hard work. Nothing was stopping Aaron.
“It is phenomenal, and I don’t think I could be prouder. We’ve always taught both the boys to persevere, and Aaron has shown that in abundance with this. He was a believer right until the last second.”
