Burgerism, the hole-in-the-wall burger spot spawned in Salford, has opened the doors on its first shop in Gatley. The new location is on Stonepail Road in the Stockport suburb, and is open seven days a week.
“We’ve kept it typically stealth,” they said in a post to Instagram. “But yes Burgerism is now live in Gatley and we love our new home. We’ve found ourselves in a warm, friendly community and already seem to have lots of regulars dropping in to pick up their weekly fix.”
They went on: “Good stuff takes time. And we started this build last summer. Lots of great people got involved in the project. Some things went to plan. Some things went off course. But it was definitely fun.”

Burgerism owner Mark Murphy told the MEN: "We're thrilled to formally announce Burgerism is open and smashing in neighbourly Gatley, in Stockport. As is the Burgerism way, we're serving up food for delivery and collection - and lots of locals have been ordering ahead, through the website, and coming down to collect, and see the new store!
"We're also excited to get some self-serve kiosks installed soon, which will allow fans come in store and place orders on the fly. The Gatley community has been super welcoming and we've found lots of Burgerism fans already. We've got a stellar team in place, led by general manager Nicole, and they're buzzing to see some great feedback from fans in the early weeks of soft launch."
Lunchtime trade happens from Friday to Sunday, while the rest of the week it’s evenings only, however there are plans to open for lunch all week in the near future. The new shop will be both a pick-up location for online orders as well as walk-in, and will also act as a hub for local deliveries too.
Burgerism is fast becoming one of the most popular burger spots in the city. As well as its kitchen in Salford and another ‘dark kitchen’ for deliveries in Ardwick, it opened at Escape To Freight Island last year too, as well as expanding to Leeds.
Set up by Murphy in 2018, it gained a cult following during lockdown. It is now one of the most ordered-from traders on Deliveroo, ranking eighth in the whole of the UK, and feeds more than 8000 people in Manchester each week. It also won Food Trader of the Year at last year's Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards.
