A pervert is facing jail after he was found stashing vile sex abuse images and videos of children on a cloud storage app.
Arran Casey had hundreds of disgusting photos and films in his sick collection, which was discovered when police arrested him and accessed his account on cloud storage provider, Mega. A court heard that the 21-year-old had started downloading the disturbing material when he accessed chat sites in 2019 and continued for a further three years.
Casey, formerly of St George's Road, in Cullercoats, appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent image of a child. His case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court for sentence.
Prosecutor, Stephen Davies, said police attended the property where Casey was living on September 28 last year and arrested him on suspicion of having indecent images of children. Mr Davies added: "The officers contacted the cloud service provider, Mega, to confirm the defendant had an account with them.
"That account was accessed and the images were accessed as well. The defendant was interviewed and admitted possession of the images and viewing them."
The court heard that, in total, Casey had 421 category A images of videos, which are the most serious kind and involve penetrative sexual activity, 115 category B and 170 category C. They were downloaded between November 2019 and September 2022.
Karen Minhas, defending, said Casey had no past convictions and had pleaded guilty, adding: "The material was obtained through a chat site. Only once he accessed the links did he know what was in them. He accepts he went on to view the material."
Casey, now living out of the area, was released on unconditional bail to next appear at Newcastle Crown Court on April 25 for sentence. In the meantime, he must sign the Sex Offenders' Register.
