In what will be just his third game in charge of Chelsea, Graham Potter faces a crucial night on Wednesday, as the Blues welcome AC Milan to Stamford Bridge in the Champions League. Chelsea need a win after picking up just one point from their opening two group games against Dinamo Zagreb and RB Salzburg.
The Blues will be in buoyant mood though after Potter picked up his first win as Chelsea boss against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Conor Gallagher's late winner saw Chelsea come from behind to secure all three points at Selhurst Park.
Potter will be hoping that his side can take that winning form into Wednesday's huge European clash, and he'll be hoping Chelsea can take advantage of Milan's extensive injury list. The Italian side are set to be without eight players, including Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It could give Chelsea a huge advantage, although Potter does have a few injury concerns of his own. football.london has taken a look at the injury doubts the newly-appointed boss faces ahead of Wednesday night.
Marc Cucurella
The Spaniard missed Chelsea's trip to Crystal Palace with a throat problem. It's understood that the left-back was in hospital as he worked towards a full recovery.
The former Brighton defender was pictured in Chelsea training ahead of Wednesday's clash, suggesting that he could be in contention to feature against Milan.
Expected return date: AC Milan (H), Wednesday, October 5
Edouard Mendy
A knee injury has seen Mendy miss out on both of Potter's matchday squads so far at Chelsea. Kepa Arrizabalaga has deputised in his absence, although the Spaniard may be Potter's preferred option between the sticks anyway due to his ability to play out with his feet.
If Mendy does start against Milan, it will be his 100th Chelsea appearance, with the Senegal stopper keeping 49 clean sheets during his time at the club.
What Potter said [September 30]: "Eddie is a bit further on but hasn't had enough to be involved at the weekend really. Maybe next week for him."
Expected return date: AC Milan (H), Wednesday, October 5
N'Golo Kante
Chelsea released eagerly-anticipated footage of Kante in training ahead of the Palace clash. But, the Frenchman did not travel to Selhurst Park as the midfielder nears a return to competitive action.
Didier Deschamps left the 31-year-old out of his France squad for fixtures against Austria and Denmark in international break, allowing time for him to work on getting fit for a heavily congested October which could define the early stages of Potter's reign and his side's season.
What Potter said: "NG has just been on the grass with the team but no full training."
Expected return date: N/A
