MIAMI — Two Cuban migrants took a novel approach to making a 90 mile journey to Key West.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the two men illegally landed a powered hang glider at the Key West International Airport around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The men were not injured and were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol officials by the Keys deputies.
“There were no interruptions in service and operations continue as normal,” said Richard Strickland, the director of airports, in a statement released by Key West Airport.
The sheriff’s department has not released details on the flight.
