Crystal Palace vs Newcastle team news: Bruno starts against the Eagles

Eddie Howe made a huge call to start Bruno Guimaraes after his medical team convinced him that the midfielder had recovered sufficiently to start at Selhurst Park.

Bruno had limped out of St James' Park just six days ago against Fulham on crutches and with his right foot in a protective boot. But Howe made the decision to start with him in his midfield engine room at Palace.

Kieran Trippier was also passed fit to play in the capital after sustaining a whack last weekend in the 1-0 win over Fulham. Nick Pope was again named in goal with the England right-back leading the team into action.

Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn made up the back four. Sean Longstaff, Bruno and Joe Willock were named in midfield.

And it was Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson named in attack. There was still no start for Alexander Isak or Allan Saint-Maximin.
