Crystal Palace FC 0 - 2 Fulham FC

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

17:08

It’s over in Selhurst, and the away team take all three points after what was a controlling second-half performance. The game started fairly evenly, with both sides coming close to opening the scoring. Nelson had an effort saved well by Henderson in the 15th minute before Guehi had a great chance to put Palace ahead. His header at the back post went agonisingly wide and that was the story of Palace’s afternoon. The score looked to be 0-0 at half-time, but Smith-Rowe latched onto the end of a Jimenez through ball after a Lacroix mistake and tucked his finish into the bottom-right corner. The score at half-time was 1-0 to Fulham, and the second half continued in largely the same fashion. Palace continued to miss chances, with Munoz, Mateta and Sarr all squandering opportunities to bring the game level. Fulham thought they had increased their lead in the 53rd minute, through Smith-Rowe again, but he was called offside by the VAR. Palace were then reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute, when Kamada went in at knee height on Tete, leaving the referee no choice but to send him off. Things then went from bad to worse as Wilson came off the pitch and added another goal off the bench. He slid the ball underneath Henderson, following a great pass from Iwobi. Fulham and Wilson then thought they had another, only for the VAR to jump in and chalk off a second goal of the game because of a handball by the goalscorer. The game ended 2-0 to Fulham, but they were unlucky that it wasn’t more. Palace, despite not scoring managed to create 1.75 xG over 97 minutes of football. Fulham made their 1.84 xG count and netted twice. Thank you for joining this live commentary, goodbye!

FULL-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 0-2 FULHAM

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:58

There are only a couple of minuets left and the gaps around Selhurst Park are beginning to show. The fans have seen a really poor home performance here.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:57

NO GOAL! Fulham have a second goal chalked off after the VAR judge Wilson to have handballed it as Traore’s cross floated over. The score remains 2-0 to the away team.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:57

IT'S IN AGAIN! It’s three for Fulham and Wilson has a double off the bench again! The substitutes combine as Traore floats a cross over to the Welshman who takes a touch and slides the shot underneath Henderson! The VAR are checking for handball, however.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

Goal Harry Wilson

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

Lacroix is booked because of a frustrated tackle on a breaking Robinson. That was cynical and the Palace defender is rightly shown a yellow card.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

The second change for Fulham sees Iwobi come off after an assist to his name. Traore replaces him for the final minutes.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

Fulham make a double change of their own. The first goalscorer, Smith-Rowe is replaced by Reed after a brilliant performance here.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

There will be seven added minutes!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

Palace make another change, and it's another youngster who is coming on. Kporha replaces Munoz as he also gets a chance to make an impact near the end of the game.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:53

Sarr comes off, and that means Agbinone can have some minutes at the end of this game. Sarr has had a quiet game, and he’ll be disappointed.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:48

This game has been another example of a game where missed chances have meant a loss for Palace. In the Premier League, you have to take the chances that you create, or you will be duly punished.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:48

We’re into the final moments of normal time now, and Palace look well and truly defeated. Shouts of “Ole” ring out after every Fulham pass.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

GOOOOAL! Wilson scores again off the bench! He gets Fulham’s second goal just moments after coming on. Iwobi picks out Wilson as he made his way into the box and he takes a touch to set himself, and finishes with his left foot past Henderson, despite a touch from the goalkeeper. 2-0 to Fulham!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

Assist Alexander Chuka Iwobi

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

Nelson also leaves the pitch, after having a couple of chances to score in this game. The hero from their last game against Brentford, Wilson, comes on to replace him.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

Fulham make the first of two changes now as Cairney joins the action for the remaining minutes. He replaces Pereira in midfield, who has had a great game in his deeper role.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

Fulham still only lead by one and despite having a man advantage, all it takes is a moment for Palace to be right back in the game. There are 10 minutes of regular time remaining.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

That will be particularly frustrating for Glasner and Palace as that is another midfielder that won’t be available for their next game. It adds to Palace’s woes in terms of team selection.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

RED CARD! Kamada is sent off for a terribly high challenge on Tete. There was no hesitation as he stretched for the ball and ended up making contact at knee height. That was very dangerous, and Kamada can’t have any complaints.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:45

Fulham also make a change of their own. Jimenez makes his way off the pitch, with an assist under his belt. Muniz comes on to replace him, as Fulham look for an insurance goal.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:41

Palace make another change. It’s the debutant, Devenny who comes off the pitch after a really positive performance in midfield. Schlupp replaces him for the remaining 15 minutes or so.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:39

Palace are enjoying a period where they have time on the ball. Fulham seem to have eased off the pressure a small bit, and that’s giving the home crowd a reason to make some noise again.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:36

Fulham have another corner after Iwobi had a side-footed shot blocked by the Palace defence. Fulham are getting very close to a second goal now, Palace are on the ropes.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:36

CHANCE! Mateta is through on goal, with only Bassey for company. He manages to get his shot away, but it was a weak effort that Leno saved with ease. A cleaner connection there and it would have troubled the Fulham goalkeeper more.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:28

Lacroix goes in for a challenge and looks to have won the ball cleanly, but the referee gives Fulham the free-kick. That blow of the whistle causes another eruption from the home fans as they believe they have been treated harshly in this game.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:24

The referee is the subject of discussion again as he missed an obvious Iwobi touch before the ball went out of play, but he gave Fulham the throw-in.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:24

The first yellow card of the game is given out to Iwobi, following a pull on Mitchell. That’s about the most obvious card that Iwobi will ever receive.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:24

Here comes the change. Clyne is taken off for Doucoure, who makes his 50th appearance for Palace. That switch will give the home side some more stability in midfield.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:22

Palace look to be readying some changes as Oliver Glasner looks to get his side back into this game sooner rather than later. They are extremely lucky that this game is still only 1-0 to Fulham.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:21

Pereira has another go at Henderson, this time from outside the box. His powerful effort was tipped over again by Henderson, who was still trying to shake off that strike from Pereira only moments before.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:18

WHAT A SAVE! Iwobi clipped a ball through a tiny gap towards Pereira, and the Brazilian smashed a ball at Henderson, and it ended up hitting him square in the face. He looks mildly shaken up, but what a save it was.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:18

That is such a reprieve for Palace, and the fans can sense that too. They have been given a lifeline to get back into this game, and that was proof of how easily Fulham can open teams up.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:18

GOOOAL! IT’S TWO! Smith-Rowe scores again and Fulham go two ahead! It was a brilliant, quick break from Fulham where the ball was spread out to Iwobi on the wing. He played a low ball across the face of goal and Smith-Rowe bags his second with a finish at the back post. 2-0 to Fulham! The VAR are checking for an offside on Smith-Rowe, however.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:18

NO GOAL! The VAR have given offside against Smith-Rowe as the ball was played across by Iwobi! That was an extremely tight call, but the score goes back to 1-0!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:13

Assist Alexander Chuka Iwobi

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:13

A small period of Palace pressure ended after Sarr committed a very soft foul on Bassey. The Palace fans are not happy with the decision, but it was a needless challenge from their forward.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:13

CHANCE! A ball through from Sarr plays Munoz in behind the Fulham defenders, and he takes way too long to shoot and Leno comes out to smother the chance. That’s a good start to the second period by Palace.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:10

The first shot of the second half comes from Robinson who blazes over the bar from a long way out, similarly to his strike in the first half.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:05

The teams are back out onto the pitch for the second half. Fulham kick-off and we are under way again!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

16:01

Looking ahead to the second half, Oliver Glasner will want his side the start making their passes count in the final third. They are getting into some great positions, but at times their final pass has been poor. If they can clean it up in attack, they will surely be able to get back into the game. As for Fulham, it will be more of the same in attack for Marco Silva’s side, but they need to take fewer risks at the back. There have been a couple of opportunities where Palace have got in behind when it was easily avoidable.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:58

It’s half-time here in South London, and the away side are the team who are ahead at the break. Fulham started the game quickly and came close through Nelson who had a shot saved brilliantly in the 14th minute. The Fulham shots kept raining down on the Palace defence, but they held strong and had a couple of chances of their own. Guehi missed his chance at the back post, after heading wide from only a couple of yards out. Mateta then had a chance cleared off the line by former Palace defender, Andersen. Then, just as half-time loomed, Jimenez fed Smith-Rowe through on goal after a poor pass from Lacroix. Smith-Rowe managed to squeeze his shot past Henderson to make it 1-0 to the away team, despite the Palace goalkeeper getting a full hand on it. We go into the break with Fulham leading, despite both sides having moments in front of goal. Palace generated 0.99 xG in the first half, and Fulham made 0.55 xG, but they are ahead which is all that matters. The Opta live win probability says there is a 7.6% chance that Palace win the game, a draw is sat at 20.5%, and a Fulham win is at 71.9%.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:48

There will be two added minutes!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:48

OFF THE LINE! Andersen denies his former club! Sarr’s cross is deflected and Mateta beats Andersen to the header in front of the goal before it passes Leno by. Andersen does really well to get behind his keeper and clear the ball away!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:44

CLOSE! Iwobi sends a thunderbolt towards Henderson’s goal from a tight angle, and the Palace goalkeeper is equal to the effort to save it over the bar.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:43

Palace players and fans alike are up in arms about a corner decision which looked to come off Iwobi with the last touch. Luckily, nothing came from the set-piece so the decision is quickly forgotten.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:43

Great chance for Palace to take the lead. Kamada plays the ball out to Munoz on the right, and he slides a low ball across the box. Mateta and Sarr had already committed to their runs, so the cross evaded them both. Fine margins.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:39

Fulham had two successive corners, both of which came to nothing. A foul was called on Henderson, and Palace regain possession after a period of Fulham attacks.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:38

We’re now into the last 10 minutes of the half, and we are still waiting for the opener. Both teams have had chances, but the score remains 0-0!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:36

CHANCE! Devenny floats in a wonderful left-footed cross from a free-kick, and it is looking for Mateta. The striker meets the ball with his head and flicks it backwards towards Leno in goal. Unluckily for him, it goes just over the bar.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:34

Moments after, Robinson smashes a shot over the bar from just outside the box. He got right underneath the ball with his left foot, sending it a long way over the goal.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:33

Robinson is now down after coming together with Chalobah, but once again the pause is brief, and the American is back on his feet.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:31

CLOSE! Guehi rises highest at the back post, beating Jimenez to the header but it goes wide! He will know that he should’ve done better with that chance, it was in a similar position to the goal he scored last time out against Wolves.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:30

Smith-Rowe is back to his feet after being grounded for a couple of minutes by that Lacroix tackle. The game is back under way.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:28

Wow! Lacroix has just surely made a goal-stopping tackle on Smith-Rowe. The winger was about to shoot towards goal before the Frenchman flew in with a perfectly-timed challenge to win the ball back.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:26

The home fans give the referee a sarcastic jeer as he gives a free-kick their way, following a foul on Chalobah. They feel that he has been treating their team unfairly so far.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:26

Devenny gets caught with the ball under his feet in midfield, and that allows Fulham to get a couple of shots away from the edge of the box. Luckily for the home side, none of them are troubling and the brief period of pressure passes.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:23

Just over 20 minutes have now passed in this game, and so far there has only been one big chance. Other than that, it has been a fairly even game with both sides getting up the pitch well. The only thing separating these two is Fulham’s passing has been slightly more accurate in attack.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:21

Guehi does well in the middle to win the ball back with a stretching tackle, before Sarr takes over and tries to play Mateta in behind. The Fulham defenders smell the danger and take care of it.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:18

Fulham get in behind the Palace defence again, and it’s Nelson who shoots for the second time in as many minutes. This time the shot isn’t as close and it rolls past Henderson’s left post.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:16

SAVED! Nelson broke into the Palace box and strikes towards goal with his right foot. Henderson sticks out a leg and keeps the score 0-0 with a wonderful save. Nelson has to do better with that chance.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:16

It has been a quick start to this game, but the pace of the game has slowed slightly as Fulham enjoy a period of calm possession, and Palace are letting them have it.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:12

Mateta goes down in the box, after beating Bassey to a long ball. He battles against Leno to get to the bouncing ball and goes over but it’s not enough for a penalty.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:11

Fulham get forward well again, this time on the left side through Robinson. If it wasn’t for his poor final ball, Fulham may have had a real chance as they broke into the Palace third.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:08

Devenny has had a good start to the game in midfield, and he has a great partner in there today. It’s not ideal circumstances for Palace, but having Guehi in the middle to coach Devenny through the game is a positive.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:07

Palace finally make it out of their own half, following a Mateta run that began from just outside his box. Moments later, Andersen misses a long pass which allows Mateta in for a second. Andersen then does well to get back and get a foot in.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:04

Fulham have the first corner of the game, with Tete making his way down the right under no pressure at all. It’s a strong start from the away side.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

15:01

KICK-OFF! Crystal Palace get the ball rolling and the game is under way!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:58

The teams are out on the pitch, and we’re nearly ready for kick-off here in London!

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:53

Oliver Glasner names a different-look Crystal Palace side, who are swamped with injuries to key players and a suspension for Will Hughes. The key talking point for their side is 21-year-old Justin Devenny starting for the first time in the Premier League. Due to the lack of first-teamers available to Glasner, a defender is being played in midfield, next to Kamada. It is unclear whether that will be Guehi or Chalobah who will shift into the middle as Palace look to fill a gap. Doucoure is an option off the bench, but he isn’t fit enough to start yet. As for Fulham, Marco Silva has named an unchanged side after their win against Brentford. Their hero in that game, Harry Wilson, is on the bench. Andersen starts in defence against his former club, after moving West of London in the summer. Also on the bench is Sessegnon, who was heavily linked with Palace in the transfer window, and even trialled with the Eagles before returning to his boyhood club.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:48

FULHAM SUBS: Steven Benda, Timothy Castagne, Issa Diop, Harry Wilson, Ryan Sessegnon, Harrison Reed, Tom Cairney, Adama Traore, Rodrigo Muniz.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:48

FULHAM (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Antonee Robinson, Calvin Bassey, Joachim Andersen, Kenny Tete; Sander Berge, Andreas Pereira; Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe, Alex Iwobi; Raul Jimenez.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:48

CRYSTAL PALACE SUBS: Matt Turner, Remi Matthews, Joel Ward, Chris Richards, Caleb Kporha, Jeffrey Schlupp, Cheick Doucoure, Asher Agbinone, Zach Marsh.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:48

CRYSTAL PALACE (3-4-2-1): Dean Henderson; Trevoh Chalobah, Maxence Lacroix, Nathaniel Clyne; Tyrick Mitchell, Justin Devenny, Marc Guehi, Daniel Munoz; Daichi Kamada, Ismaila Sarr; Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:42

Marco Silva, unlike his counterpart, will be pleased with how his side has begun their domestic season. Fulham sit ninth in the Premier League and have won more games than they have drawn or lost. They recently won against Brentford in spectacular fashion, netting twice in added time to steal three points from their local rivals. Fulham will see this as a game that they should be winning, after already picking up impressive results against Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Leicester.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:42

Oliver Glasner’s team has started poorly in this Premier League campaign; he will be disappointed with the fact that his side are still not picking up maximum points in games where they perhaps deserve to. They have only won one game and have drawn four, and they are currently 17th in the league table. The mental block of getting their first win was taken care of against Tottenham Hotspur but after a disappointing draw against Wolves, Palace desperately need another three points. The home team will see this game as a winnable fixture, but they are without key players, so the squad will have to be on top form.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

14:37

The last time these sides faced each other in the Premier League, the points were shared in a 1-1 draw in April. This was amidst a great run of Palace form, where they won relentlessly until the end of the season. Since then, a tricky transfer window and a poor start to this season has the Eagles worried. Fulham started the season well and historically fared well against Crystal Palace. In other head-to-head meetings, Fulham have won or drawn the last five meetings. Fulham are competing inside the top half of the Premier League, whereas Palace are hanging dangerously close to the relegation zone.
