Crystal Palace team news vs Burnley as Patrick Vieria brings James McArthur into starting XI

Patrick Vieira has made three changes to his Crystal Palace starting XI to take on Burnley this afternoon at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles beat Watford 4-1 in midweek and are now hoping to record back-to-back victories in the Premier League for just the second time this season.

Jack Butland starts in goal for the second game running after he deputised for Vicente Guaita against Watford due to an injury the Spanish keeper picked up against Chelsea. Guaita starts today’s game on the substitute’s bench.

Joel Ward’s groin injury means he remains unavailable for selection. Nathaniel Clyne takes his spot at right-back instead, making his third consecutive Premier League start for the Eagles.

The rest of the backline remains unchanged, with Joachim Andersen, Marc Guehi and Tyrick Mitchell continuing together as Vieira’s first-choices across the back four.

In midfield, Cheikhou Kouyate has been dropped to the bench after he played the full 90 minutes against Chelsea and Watford.

In his place, James McArthur gets his second start since returning from injury. The Scotsman came off the bench at Vicarage Road and is back in the middle of the park today, playing alongside Conor Gallagher and Luka Milivojevic.

Wilfried Zaha keeps his place in the team after his brace in midweek secured Palace’s first league win of 2022 in style and looks to be starting up front.

Michael Olise is also back in the front three and is expected to start on the right once again, with Jordan Ayew on the bench.

Jean-Philippe Mateta started up front and opened the scoring against Watford but he loses his place in the starting XI in favour of Jeffrey Schlupp, with Christian Benteke, Odsonne Edouard and Mateta all also on the bench.

Crystal Palace XI: Butland, Mitchell, Guehi, Andersen, Clyne, McArthur, Milivojevic, Gallagher, Zaha, Schlupp, Olise.

Bench: Guaita, Kelly, Kouyate, Hughes, Eze, Edouard, Ayew, Benteke, Mateta
