Crystal Palace star Michael Olise's 'release clause' revealed amid transfer links to Arsenal

Crystal Palace midfielder Michael Olise reportedly has a release clause in his contract in the region of £35million. The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal after a fine first season at Selhurst Park.

Olise has scored twice and registered an impressive eight assists for the Eagles in all competitions, confirming his status as one of the Premier League’s brightest emerging talents. And his sensational form in his maiden season at the highest level has seen the France Under-21 star linked with a move away from Patrick Vieira’s side.

The south London club stole a march on their rivals by triggering an £8million release clause in Olise’s deal with former club Reading. However, according to the Times and also been confirmed by football.london sources; it would take a bid in the region of £35m to acquire his services.

Olise would certainly fit in with the Gunners recruitment model under Mikel Arteta of buying talented young players for the future as well as the present. And given his age and potential the sizable fee could be deemed a worthwhile investment.

Arsenal are expected to be busy in the upcoming transfer window with Arteta keen to bolster his squad ahead of a return to European football next season. Olise’s signing would add more depth and quality to their midfield options ahead of what will be a busy campaign.

Olise enjoyed a breakout campaign at Reading last season after he was involved in 19 goal contributions to help the Royals finish seventh. His meteoric rise has shown no signs of abating, with England boss Gareth Southgate admitting that he hoped to persuade the Palace star to switch his international allegiance and represent the Three Lions.
