Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park to host Conti Cup Final as FA confirm details

Selhurst Park will host the 2022/23 FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup Final, the FA have announced today.

The 12th final of the competition will kick-off at 3pm on March 5 at the London stadium and is due to be broadcast live on the BBC.

This season's final comes off the back of last year’s record-shattering match, in which more than 8,000 fans were in attendance to watch Manchester City overcome league victors Chelsea 3-1.

And a similarly raucous crowd is expected for the event at Selhurst Park, which is no stranger to hosting grand occasions in the women’s game. Home to The Eagles since 1924, Selhurst Park hosted the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Final held there on three occasions between 2001 and 2003.

FA Director of The Women's Professional Game Kelly Simmons said of the event: "We’re really looking forward to working with Crystal Palace over the coming months to put on a really exciting final.

“Selhurst Park hosts some of the best men’s players in the world over the course of the season in the Premier League and has also played host to the brilliant Crystal Palace in the Barclays Women’s Championship. It is a fitting venue for the Final to be held in March.”

Steve Parish, Chairman of Crystal Palace, added: “We are delighted Selhurst Park has been selected to host the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup Final. Crystal Palace has a rich heritage of hosting FA Finals, being the home of the Men’s FA Cup Final for twenty years before the construction of Wembley.

“As the Women’s game continues to go from strength to strength, we are excited to continue this tradition by welcoming this showpiece game to South London.”

Crystal Palace Women currently ply their trade in the Women's Championship, where they sit sixth in the league but six points off London City in top spot. Yet, in their Conti Cup group, they are marooned at the bottom with zero points heading into the final round of matches on December 18.

Meanwhile, both West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur top their respective Conti Cup first round groups heading into next weekend. The winners of the first round group stages will advance to the quarter-finals due to take place between January 25-26. Last year's runners-up Chelsea and Arsenal will join the fray then, as their arrivals are postponed due to UEFA Women’s Champions League commitments.

They will join the five group winners and best runner-up.

The finalists who will walk out at Selhurst Park in March will be determined during the semi-finals set between February 8-9.

Tickets for the final at Selhurst Park are now on sale and are priced as follows:

  • Adult – £15 (Cat 1), £10 (Cat 2)

  • Under-16s - £2.50

  • Student / OAP - £5

  • Groups, adult tickets (9+) - £7.50 (Cat 1), £5 (Cat 2)
