Crystal Palace player ratings vs Stoke City: Zaha too busy berating but Adaramola stands out in scrappy win

Crystal Palace are into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in three years after victory over Championship side Stoke City.

After a slow and stodgy first half, Palace emerged after the break with more purpose and were ahead within 10 minutes after Cheikhou Kouyate fired high into the net from a corner.

Minutes later, however, Stoke were level as Romaine Sawyers drove down the right and crossed low for Josh Tymon, who finished well at the far post.

Palace found the winner through two substitutes, Conor Gallagher seeing his whipped cross punched to the feet of Jairo Riedewald, who collected and finished low into the left-hand corner.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated the Eagles…

Jack Butland 6

Nothing he could have done about the goal and had very little to do otherwise.

Nathaniel Clyne 6

Could have offered more going forward but was largely untroubled at the back.

Joachim Andersen 6

Dodgy header allowed Jordan Thompson a good chance but was on hand to head over as Liam Moore looked to finish into an open goal.

Marc Guehi 7

Composed on the ball and solid at the back - good performance from the captain on the night.

Tayo Adaramola 6

Confident on the ball and was positive in possession. Struggled a bit positionally but a fine full debut.

Cheikhou Kouyate 7

Battled well in midfield in horrible conditions and was in the right place at the right time for his goal.

Will Hughes 5

Drove forward well but was caught napping for the Stoke equaliser and had little control in midfield.

Michael Olise 7

Palace’s most threatening player throughout. Looked to buy a penalty in the first half but an exciting showing once again.

Jordan Ayew 5

Got in behind a couple of times down the right but wasteful when in the right position.

Jean Philippe-Mateta 6

Worked hard to lead the line well but was a little clumsy and wasteful when it mattered. Didn’t have much service.

Wilfried Zaha 5

Spent the first half berating teammates and didn’t offer too much going forward throughout.

Substitutes

Conor Gallagher 7

Added bite and energy to a Palace midfield which was struggling to cope.

Jeffrey Schlupp 6

Stopped any threats down Palace’s left after slotting in at left-back.

Luka Miliovojevic 6

Added a bit of calm and experience to midfield late on.

Jairo Riedewald 7

Took his first goal in over a year well with a smart finish.
