Crystal Palace player ratings vs Everton as Ebere Eze shows glimpse of future amid defeat

Jack Butland - 7

Barely had anything to do in the first 45 minutes and couldn't have done too much else to stop either of the Everton goals going in with the first two coming from close range and hit with power through bodies, and with little time to react to Calvert-Lewin's header.

Nathaniel Clyne - 7

Got forward well when required and was brilliant at keeping Richarlison quiet during the first half. Continued well in the second period but was out of position when the equaliser came at the back post.

Marc Guehi - 6

A solid first half display from the skipper who commanded his area well in the first 45 minutes. Could have done better to close down the ball for Michael Keane's goal and failed to get to the third goal in the second half however as Palace collapsed under a tidal wave of blue.

Joachim Andersen - 6

Not as much chance to dictate play from the back in this game for Andersen but still fought bravely and produced some important blocks and headers. Couldn't quite get enough on Richarlison's equaliser to stop it bouncing in.

Tyrick Mitchell - 6

Made a good start to the game by whipping in a decent cross for Jordan Ayew. Continued strongly despite briefly going down injured in the first half.

Will Hughes - 6

Likely surprised at how much space he was afforded at times during the game as Everton's midfield looked disinterested at times.

Jeffrey Schlupp - 7

Had an early sighter at goal from the edge of the box but put it wide while off-balance. Didn't stop battling for the ball throughout the match and was a constant thorn in Everton's side with his running.

Eberechi Eze - 8

Put his free-kick on a plate for Mateta to score the opener. Looks back to his best gliding past players and causing havoc from an advanced midfield position. Without Gallagher in the starting XI tonight showed a glimpse of what is to come from the Eagles.

Jordan Ayew - 7

Stayed sharp and on his toes in the box to score his goal and force the ball over the line. Was one of Palace's most lively players and still threw himself about even after being booked early on.

Jean-Philippe Mateta - 7

Took his goal brilliantly to divert the ball past Jordan Pickford and silence a fervent Goodison Park. Stayed sharp but had tailed off by the time of his substitution. Had a good effort saved by Pickford in the second half when he should have done more.

Wilfried Zaha - 6

Didn't get into too many positions from which to test Jordan Pickford but linked well with those around him well.

Substitutions

Luka Milivojevic (for Will Hughes 56')

Brought on to try and slow the game down after Everton got back into it but found it tricky at times.

Conor Gallagher (for Jeffrey Schlupp 74')

Closed down Richarlison well for Everton's second goal but saw the ball end up in the net regardless.

Christian Benteke (for Jean-Philippe Mateta 80') - N/A
