Crystal Palace player ratings vs Chelsea as late Hakim Ziyech goal downs Eagles

Vicente Guaita - 7

Had to be alert to push Antonio Rudiger's long-shot out for a corner towards the start of the game before staying big to stop N'Golo Kante from scoring the opener after being played through by Malang Sarr.

Nathaniel Clyne - 7

Drafted in for only his second league start of the season but acquitted himself admirably against a strong Chelsea attack. Should get more of a look in with Joel Ward missing the matchday squad and Nathan Ferguson injured.

Joachim Andersen - 8

Won the battle against Romelu Lukaku in the first half as the big Belgian only touched the ball twice during the opening 45 minutes. Was equally as impregnable in the second half and dominated his own box before Palace conceded late.

Marc Guehi - 6

Not as clinical as his partner at times but still did a good job of limiting Chelsea's chances. Took a knock during the first half that needed treatment on the pitch which might concern Vieira slightly.

Tyrick Mitchell - 7

Another strong performance from Mitchell who backed up man of the match displays against Norwich and Brentford with another good outing against the Blues. He was always willing to bomb forward and contribute to attacks more with James McArthur helping with defensive cover when needed.

Cheikhou Kouyate - 7

An immovable presence in holding midfield and one who worked well in tandem with James McArthur alongside him. Forced David Coote into giving Sarr the first booking of the game after a brilliant piece of defending and body shielding.

James McArthur - 7

Great to have the Scotsman in midfield to screen the defence and help provide cover for Tyrick Mitchell to get forward and join attacks. Was able to roam free in midfield to close down danger knowing he had another partner in Kouyate pitching in alongside him.

Jeffrey Schlupp - 6

Excellent recovery tackle on Ngolo Kante and pass to Zaha that led to an early chance for Michael Olise. Provided energy and made some neat touches to push Palace upfield. Let fly from the edge of the box but failed to hit the target.

Michael Olise - 7

Got a chance within the first ten minutes to test Edouard Mendy but put his shot narrowly wide of the post. Was involved in many of Palace's moves and looked influential starting through the middle.

Jordan Ayew - 6

Coupled up with Nathaniel Clyne on the right when Palace needed to try and limit the impact of Christian Pulisic and the overlapping Malang Sarr. Didn't quite click for him going forward when Palace broke up the pitch.

Wilfried Zaha - 6

Starting centrally and was a lively runner trying to make things happen from the start. Was in the box as much as possible but it didn't always fall to him.

Substitutes

Jack Butland (for Vicente Guiata 45') - 6

Made a great stop to deny Romelu Lukaku only to see his rebound buried by Hakim Ziyech. Luckily Lukaku was called offside to spare any blushes.

Eberechi Eze (for Jordan Ayew 84') - N/A

Jean-Philippe Mateta (for James McArthur 90') - N/A
