Crystal Palace handed exciting FA Cup quarter-final tie at home against Premier League side

Crystal Palace will face Everton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at Selhurst Park.

The draw for the last-eight was made ahead of the final fifth-round tie between the Toffees and Boreham Wood, with Frank Lampard's side coming through the tie courtesy of two goals from Salomon Rondon.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to take place between Friday, March 18 and Monday, March 21, meaning Palace's Premier League fixture against Newcastle at St James’ Park on March 19 will now be moved.

The other last-eight ties include Southampton vs Manchester City, Middlesbrough vs Chelsea and Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield Town vs Liverpool.

The Eagles overcame Stoke City in their fifth-round tie on Saturday afternoon, with Cheikhou Kouyate and Jairo Riedewald scoring in a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park.

Palace beat Championship outfit Millwall and League Two side Hartlepool United in their previous two rounds and will now play in their second FA Cup quarter-final in the last four seasons.

Patrick Vieira, who is currently on an 18-game winning streak in the competition as both a player and manager, said that if his side were to advance further they would have to play better than they did on Saturday night, with Palace not at their best against the Potters despite the victory.

“I wasn’t really happy with the way we performed, we didn’t play well at all,” he told reporters in his post-match press conference.

"I was really disappointed by the performance. We are excited to be in the next round, with the game we played we know how difficult it will be.

"We just have to look at the draw and play better than what we did if we want to go further."

Should Palace get past X then it’ll be the first time they’ve reached an FA Cup semi-final since 2016 when they lost in the final at Wembley to Manchester United.

Prior to that, the Eagles’ last semi-final appearance came in 1995 when they were again beaten by the Red Devils.
