Crystal Palace 4-3 West Ham: Eagles edge seven-goal thriller to all-but guarantee survival

Crystal Palace edged a pulsating seven-goal thriller against West Ham to move onto 40 points and virtually guarantee survival.

Palace climb above Chelsea into 11th place in the table and go 11 points clear of the relegation zone, while West Ham stay five points above the bottom three and still in danger.

Tomas Soucek put West Ham ahead after nine minutes when Palace failed to clear a corner and he thumped home from close range.

But Palace equalised six minutes later through a good finish from Jordan Ayew and West Ham then suffered another blow as Kurt Zouma was forced off with a twisted ankle.

Palace went ahead through the returning Wilfried Zaha on 20 minutes and got a third when Jeffrey Schlupp robbed Soucek just outside his own area and slotted under Lukasz Fabianski.

West Ham pulled one back on 36 minutes when Soucek flicked on a corner at the front post and Michail Antonio headed home at the back post to give his side a lifeline.

Eberechi Eze put Palace back in control when sent Fabianski the wrong way from the penalty spot after a foul by Nayef Aguerd on 66 minutes.

Aguerd made amends when he bundled the ball home from a corner to give West Ham a lifeline, but Palace held on.
