Crusaders Strikers plan special tribute in memory of Kaylee Black

Crusaders Strikers are dedicating their game against Derry City this evening to the memory of Kaylee Black.

The club was left devastated after the teenager, who played for Crusaders Titans, passed away earlier this week.

In a social media post Crusaders Strikers confirmed they would pay tribute to Kaylee as they returned to action at Seaview, with all ticket money being donated towards funeral costs.

"Our first team is back in action tomorrow night (Wednesday),” the club said.

“The match will be dedicated to the memory of Kaylee Black, our players will wear a black armband and we will hold a minute’s silence prior to kick off.

“All ticket money will be donated to Kaylee’s family to go towards funeral costs. Kick off 8pm.”

Current Crusaders midfielder, Philip Lowry, lent his support saying: "All support would be very much appreciated at this awful sad time for Kaylee's family."

A Go Fund Me page has also been set up to help with funeral costs with almost £8,000 being donated to date.

"Words cannot explain what the family of Kaylee Black are going through," said organiser William Mayne.

"A talented young footballer who played for Crusaders girls team, has left a massive space in the hearts of her family.

"We have set this fundraiser up as a help towards the family in their time of need and to help take some of the stress off them at this time."

Details of Kaylee's funeral have been released with the service being held at Seaview Presbyterian Church on the Shore Road at 10.15am on Tuesday 9 May.

Kaylee will be laid to rest in Ballyclare Cemetery with a gathering being held upstairs at Seaview, home of Crusaders FC, afterwards.
