Notts County has retained defender Kyle Cameron, with the club captain agreeing to a new two-year deal as the club continues to gear up for their return to the Football League.
The 26-year-old has made 75 appearances in total for Notts since joining from Torquay United in the summer of 2021, missing just two league games last term including the play-offs as he helped the club gain promotion from the National League.
County had the best defensive record in the fifth tier last term, conceding just 42 times in 46 matches and keeping 17 clean sheets across the season with Cameron leading the defensive unit excellently.

As an ever-present figure in the team across the last two years, it was important for the club to retain Cameron’s services to maintain some consistency and familiarity in the team as they also look to add new faces that can improve the overall quality.
The club have identified the player’s strengths and key qualities in carrying the ball and playing out from the back as well as the fact he is left-footed as key reasons for keeping him as a member of their squad moving forward.
A short statement from the board of directors and Luke Williams read: “Kyle has been a crucial figure for the club since his arrival two years ago. Not only has he had a vital role as captain, but he’s also pivotal to how we play.
“Kyle has a very unique skillset as a left-sided centre-back, being so comfortable on the ball, confident in progressing the play and consistent in delivering dangerous crosses into the box.
“He was part of a defence that conceded only 42 goals last season and, by retaining him, we ensure continuation in personnel which we hope will lead to another defensively-sound campaign.
“We also feel we can provide Kyle with the right platform and environment to continue his growth as a player and we’re excited to see how he performs over the next two seasons.”
