Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense attended on Saturday the second round competitions of the Diriyah Formula E Race 2021.

The event is being held at Diriyah for the third consecutive year and marks the opening of the seventh season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

On arrival to the race track, the Crown Prince was received by Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal.

Saudi Arabia has become increasingly prominent on the motorsports scene, hosting the Dakar Rally in January and a Formula 1 race is scheduled for Jeddah later this year.

A new Extreme E off-road electric series is due to race in AlUla in March while tennis, boxing and golf have held high-profile events in the Kingdom.

Earlier this month, it concluded the hosting of the Saudi Cup, the world's most valuable equestrian competition.
