Crowds dazzled by launch of spectacular arts projects

Crowds gathered for the launch of two art installations in Huyton village.

Children looked on in wonder as performers put on a spectacular show to kickstart the fortnight-long exhibition.

The artworks - each made up of thousands of lights - have been set up to mark Knowsley’s celebrations as the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture.

Performances by the group Spark Drummers started proceedings with the displays, named Submergence and Singularity, switched on at 6pm.

Submergence is a “reflective, immersive walkthrough experience” now on show in Sherbourne Square.

One-year-old Isabella Garnett enjoys 'Submergence', an immersive light display in Huyton town centre, as part of Knowsley's celebrations as the Liverpool City Region Borough of Culture. Thousands of suspended lights create the dazzling display.

Singularity features 6,720 points of light, made up of more than 20,000 LEDs, and is located just outside the Peacocks store.
