Crowds burst into cheers as man shocks flight attendant with proposal at airport

A flight attendant was shocked when a man got down on one knee and proposed to her.

Over the weekend romance abounded in Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport when the Ryanair cabin crew members boyfriend arrived with a pianist in tow.

As she walked into arrivals alongside a colleague the soft notes of a love song could be heard tinkling in the background as the romantic man walked in clasping a bunch of flowers.

She stops in front of him, letting go of her wheeley bag as he hands over the bouquet, prompting the onlooking crowd to cheer.

The boyfriend - wearing a green jumper and jeans - unzips his cross body bag and dips his hand inside, whipping out a small white box and lunging to the floor.

As he rests on his knee the flight attendant shuffles backwards momentarily in apparent shock, prompting a great enthusiastic hurrah to ring out from the assembled masses.

The Ryanair employee holds a hand over her mouth before wiping a tear away from her eye as the recognisable figure of the Tayto mascot seems to look on from an advert in the background of the video.

After a few short moments the woman yells 'yeees' before rushing to her now fiance and embracing him.

The natural showmen then turns to the crowd and tells them 'she said yes', prompting yet more cheers and applause as he lifts her up in the air for an acrobatic hug.

In a later tweet, Dublin Airport wrote: "Love was well and truly in the air in Dublin Airport last night as this Ryanair air hostess was surprised in T1 arrivals by her boyfriend… (much to the excitement of the others waiting!)

"Congratulations to the very happy couple."

A man who was in the arrivals hall for the proposal said: "I was there watching this as he waited for almost an hour for her to come through arrivals. It lifted my heart. What a lovely couple. We're still talking about it this morning."

Earlier this year a happy couple were given 'bottomless' champagne and were serenaded by staff after a man popped what turned out to be a fake proposal at 30,000 feet.

Roman Romero decided to get down on one knee in front of a cabin full of other passengers and a beaming woman, apparently called Lisa. The lucky lady wasn't actually his partner, but a good friend of his who was in on the joke.

In a video of the pretend romantic moment Roman stands up at the end of the aisle and begins speaking to his companion after two glasses of champagne are brought to her seat.

"Two and a half years ago Lisa and I met on the airplane flying to New York City, every moment since then has been absolutely magical," he says.

"You're the most beautiful woman I know, inside and out, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Lisa, will you marry me?"

As Roman gets down on one knee, a giggling Lisa says "What? Yes" prompting the cabin and crew to burst into applause. The video switches to a flight attendant playing the ukulele while his fellow members of staff sing a romantic song.

In the description of the video Roman said that he pulled the stunt "to get bottomless champagne for free".
