Crowdcube founder joins the team at Crowdfunder

Crowdfunder has announced the appointment of a new interim chair.

The Newquay-based company has welcomed Darren Westlake to the role of interim chairperson to drive its stragey forward.

Mr Westlake joins the Cornwall company from equity crowdfunding Crowdcube, where he led the team as chief executive and founder for 13 years, he also acted as the business' board director for 10 years.

In his new role, Mr Westlake will report to the Crowdfunder board for a period of at least six months and will help the Crowdfunder leadership team to appoint a long term chair, manage and refresh the board, contribute to company strategy and help Crowdfunder's chief executive, Rob Love, lead the team in its ambition to "further disrupt" the global fundraising market.

Mr Love said: “We’re pleased Darren is making this move to work with us more closely. Darren is a respected industry leader and experienced board director. We look forward to Darren helping us accelerate and grow the business.”

Mr Westlake added: “I’m delighted to join Crowdfunder as interim chair. Crowdfunder is close to my heart as I’ve worked on the brand since it was part of Crowdcube. It’s a brilliant platform and I’m excited to see how, using my skills and experience, we can grow the brand further and realise its full potential.”
