Crossbow killer Kyle Clifford's older brother also in prison for murder over road rage killing

Crossbow killer Kyle Clifford’s older brother is also a murderer serving a life sentence for killing a teenager in a road rage attack.

Bradley Clifford flew into a rage when a bottle with smashed on his “prized” Ford Mustang car, and launched into a pursuit of moped rider Jahshua Francis, 19, and his pillion passenger Soban Khan, 18.

After a 20-minute high-speed chase through the streets of Enfield, north London, Clifford rammed his car into the moped.

Mr Francis miraculously survived after being thrown through the air, but Mr Khan was fatally injured.

In his rage, Clifford continued the attack on the dying teenager, punching him nine times as he lay injured on the ground.

Prosecutor Aftab Jafferjee KC told an Old Bailey trial: “It was rapid, it was brutal and it was unrelenting.

“He pursued the moped down a straight stretch of road at speed, not to apprehend the two people on it, but to mow them down for daring to damage his prized vehicle.”

The court was told it followed an argument between Clifford and one of Mr Khan’s friends about his girlfriend.

Clifford was found guilty by a jury of murdering Mr Khan and of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent on Mr Francis. He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 23 years for the murder, which happened on August 2017.

The killer is now joined behind bars by his younger brother Kyle, a former soldier, who has pleaded guilty to a triple murder which shocked the nation.

Kyle Clifford, 26, was armed with a crossbow and a knife when he attacked the family of BBC and Sky Sports Racing commentator John Hunt at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, last July.

He shot his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt and her sister Hannah with the crossbow before stabbing their mother Carol to death.

At Cambridge crown court on Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, false imprisonment of Louise Hunt, and two charges of possession of offensive weapons – the crossbow and the knife.

Clifford will still stand trial later this year on an allegation – which he denies – that he raped Louise Hunt prior to the murders.

He has admitted tied 25-year-old Louise arms and ankles with duct tape and shooting her through the chest with a crossbow bolt.

Carol Hunt, 61, was stabbed repeatedly in the knee, hands, back and torso with a 10in butcher’s knife.

Hannah Hunt, 28, was found in the main doorway of the house with a crossbow bolt to the chest and was still alive when police arrived at the property at around 7.10pm on July 9.

She had managed to make a 999 call, saying she feared she was going to die as she had been shot and her sister and mother had also been attacked.

Clifford, who served in the military from 2019 for around three years, became the subject of a manhunt for a number of hours before he was found injured in Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield, north London, after shooting himself in the chest with the crossbow.

Following the attacks, the Home Office said Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was urgently considering whether tougher crossbow laws were needed.

In the King’s Speech, which took place just days after the killings, there was no proposal to take action on crossbows.

Clifford, of Rendlesham Road, Enfield, north London, will face a trial on the rape charge on March 3.
