More than 20 people have been arrested following a year-long investigation into an alleged Victorian and NSW cross-border drug trafficking network.
The first of 21 arrests were made in late October when detectives and specialist units executed search warrants throughout Victoria, including in Melbourne, Bairnsdale, Mallacoota, Sale, Swan Reach and Warrnambool.
NSW police also conducted a raid in Eden.
They seized trafficable quantities of methylamphetamine, GHB and cannabis, trafficable quantities of illicit firearms and imitation firearms and stolen items including, cars, a jet ski, trailer and power tools.
Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Mehlert from the East Gippsland Crime Investigation Unit says the arrests have caused a major dent to the illicit drug trade across Gippsland.
"We have seized a significant quantity of illicit substances over the past few weeks, including methylamphetamine," he said on Monday.
"For those involved in trafficking commercial quantities of drugs, a maximum sentence of 25-years behind bars is a stark reminder of the risk you run."
Those arrested face numerous charges including drug trafficking, weapon trafficking, handling stolen goods and drug possession.
Further arrests are expected.
