Mayo GAA has seen their application to wear rainbow-coloured numbers on the back of their jerseys rejected by Croke Park it has been reported.
The Irish Independent is reporting that Mayo were seeking permission from the GAA to wear the rainbow coloured numbers as part of their 2023 National League campaignl
The initiative would have been to support the LGBTQ+ community and the Irish Independent say it was a move to support their charity partner Mindspace Mayo.
But the GAA has shot down the move as playing gear is considered 'sacrosant'.
Mayo are under new management for 2023 after James Horan stepped away as boss.
Former Roscommon manager and Sunday Game pundit Kevin McStay has taken over.
