Critics' Choice Awards 2023: Abby Elliott and host Chelsea Handler lead red carpet glamour

Pregnant Abby Elliott showed off her baby bump as she joined host Chelsea Handler on the red carpet at the 2023 Critics' Choice Awards.

The Bear star, 35, stepped out at the glitzy ceremony just days after her latest appearance at the Golden Globe Awards – stunning in a blue gown.

Tonight's presenter Chelsea was all smiles in a flowing orange gown, posing on the red carpet for snappers as the A-list celebrities arrived.

The 28th annual Critics’ Choice Awards is held at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles tonight.

Critics Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin said in a statement: "We are thrilled to have Chelsea Handler joining us at the 28th annual Critics Choice Award."

The glitzy ceremony honours the best films and television programmes from last year, hand-picked by more than 600 members at the CCA.

"We are so proud to be recognizing this incredible group of films and the people who made them possible," Joey explained in a press statement.

"This recognition comes from a diverse group of critics and entertainment reporters who share their opinions about film and TV with millions of people every day, all year."

Amongst nominations for best film actor and actress are Tom Cruise, Brendan Fraser, Margot Robbie and Michelle Williams.

Talent in the TV categories include Adam Scott, Jeff Bridges and Mandy Moore.

Best film categories are dominated by Everything Everywhere All At Once which boasts 14 nominations – including the sought-after Best Picture.

The Fablemans garnered 11 nominations, while The Banshees of Inisherin received ten.

In TV, Abbot Elementary boasts six nominations, while Better Call Saul followed close behind with five. The Good Fight, Gaslit and Reservation Dogs each earned four.

Yellowstone star Kelsey Asbille Chow cut a striking figure in an elegant strapless black gown. The actress - known as Monica Dutton in the nominated series - will be hopeful of awards for the show as well as co-star Kelly Reilly who is nominated for her depiction of Yellowstone's vivacious heroine Beth Dutton.

Meanwhile, Love Island USA host Sarah Hyland showcased her stunning figure in an on-trend cut-out gown as she posed for cameras on the red carpet.

Claire Foy said that despite her “lingering” jet lag she was “really excited” to be attending the Critics Choice Awards.

Stars have begun to arrive on the red carpet of the 28th annual ceremony, which is taking place in Los Angeles.

Foy stars in Women Talking, which is among the contenders for the CCA’s best picture.

Speaking to the CCA, she said: “I’m really excited to be here, really excited to see the all ladies again and just hopefully have a good time.”

On the relationship with her castmates, she continued: “It was forged in a really collaborative, beautiful way and we shared an experience which I think very few of us will have again and I think it brings you closer together.

“It is friendship and trust and understanding and respect and appreciation and all those things.”

Matt Smith said that if he were to win at the Critics Choice Awards, he would celebrate by having “a few lagers with my mates”.

The actor, who stars in CCA nominated series House Of The Dragon, said it was “lovely” to have been invited to the event in Los Angeles.

“It’s really lovely to be invited to the party…it’s lovely to be part of it and be invited – let’s see if we win,” he told the CCA, speaking on the red carpet.

The popular HBO series is up for several awards, including best drama series, with Smith also having earned a nod for best supporting actor in a drama series.

Asked what he would do to celebrate a win, he said: “Probably go and have a few lagers with my mates, a few lagers and a steak dinner.”
