Prince Harry has only agreed to attend his father's coronation ceremony in order to protect his family's 'lifestyle', one critic has claimed.
Harry has confirmed that he will be at the May 6 occasion without his wife and children, following weeks of speculation over whether he and Meghan would attend the event in light of the couple's soured relationship with the royal family.
But Harry's decision to accept the invitation was only taken so the Sussexes can “maintain their currency and maintain their lifestyle”, according to columnist Louise Roberts.
She told Sky News Australia, as reported by the Express: “They’ve [the Sussexes] done Netflix, they’ve done Spare, they’ve done Oprah – and really they do see the Royal Family as some kind of giant ATM.
“So, in order to maintain their currency and maintain their lifestyle, Harry, of course, has to go to the coronation – of course you’d think he’d want to be there for his father, it’s the biggest day of his father’s life.
“But really what it also provides is the next chapter for the Sussex narrative.”
King Charles is reportedly "very disappointed" that Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will not be present in Westminster Abbey on May 6, the same day Prince Archie celebrates his fourth birthday.
But the monarch is thrilled his son will be attending the momentous occasion, according to a source.
A source told The Sun: "The King is happy that Harry, his son, who he calls his 'darling boy' will be at the Abbey. He wanted him there. It is sad, he is very disappointed that he won't see Meghan or his grandchildren but understands the situation.”
Harry and Meghan stepped back from official royal duties in 2020 to later make a number of bombshell claims about their family.
The first set of allegations came during a televised interview with Oprhah Winfrey in 2021, with the most serious being related to claims that an unnamed member of the Royal Family questioned what colour Prince Archie's skin colour would be.
Harry made further claims in his best-selling memoir, 'Spare', recalling a time when, he says, Prince William pushed him to the ground during a heated argument.
