Cristiano Ronaldo is training with Real Madrid, reports in Spain suggest.

The Portugal forward is without a club after a second acrimonious end to his time at Manchester United.

Ronaldo was released from his contract last month after conducting an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he accused the club and manager Erik ten Hag of a lack of respect.

Standard Sport understands the former Juventus star is assessing his options despite a major-money offer from Saudi Arabia in the hope a Champions League-level club emerge as a viable destination.

Ronaldo denied a move to Al-Nassr was close before Portugal’s World Cup exit at the hands of Morocco and is thought to have returned to Madrid’s Valdebebas training base.

The forward enjoyed a glittering nine-year spell in the Spanish capital from 2009 to 2018, winning the Champions League on four occasions and breaking all manner of goalscoring records.

According to Spanish journalist Hugo Cerezo, the club’s all-time top scorer is working on his fitness as he awaits the next chapter of his career.
