Cristiano Ronaldo told why he 'can't pull on a Manchester United shirt ever again'

Cristiano Ronaldo has been told there is no way back for him at Manchester United following his interview with Piers Morgan.

The 37-year-old accused the club of betrayal and said he had no respect for boss Erik ten Hag as he slammed the lack of evolution since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. He also fired criticism at the Glazers before questioning the comments made by ex-teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney about him.

United have released a statement that said they will consider a response after the full facts have been established. The statement added: “Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”

A number of pundits believe Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford is over, including Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand. Robbie Savage is now the latest to agree with them, also highlighting the superstar's refusal to come on against Tottenham as a reason for his United career being over.

Speaking to William Hill, he recognised the achievements Ronaldo had made at United but said his latest outbursts have made his post-World Cup return impossible. Savage said: "It's disappointing, you know, he's a role model to millions and millions and millions of people but again I'm just disappointed because I still love watching him and I've always backed Ronaldo.

“But on this occasion, you can't back somebody who walked down the tunnel before the end of the game and then has done this hammering everybody.

“Whether he thinks it was the right thing to do because he loves Manchester United Football Club - but from the outside, for me, it's an interview from somebody who does not want to be at that football club. For me, you cannot recover from that interview and pull on a red shirt ever again."
