Cristiano Ronaldo told ‘it’s time’ to sign for Arsenal after Man Utd request and Chelsea talks

Cristiano Ronaldo has been told “it’s time” to sign for Arsenal amid an influx of transfer rumours surrounding the forward. It comes after the Portuguese international reportedly made clear his intention to leave Manchester United this summer.

The 37-year-old made his return to the Red Devils last year from Juventus in a deal worth roughly £13.5million. While his side struggled, the striker managed to net 18 goals and three assists in 30 Premier League appearances.

However, despite his input, United only managed to scrape sixth in the league on the final day. It means they will have to settle for Europa League football next season, signifying a huge blow in missing out on Champions League qualification.

However, according to the Times, Ronaldo has asked to leave the club this summer if a suitable offer is made. The decision is said to come from his desire to play in the Champions League while he enters the final few years of his playing career.

Reports have also stated that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly spoke with his agent, Jorge Mendes, over the possibility of a move to Stamford Bridge. A number of other clubs have also been linked, from Bayern Munich to Napoli.

However, Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has urged Ronaldo to make the move to the Emirates, tweeting a picture of himself with the striker and a Gunners shirt with his name on the back. The caption for the tweet simply said: “It’s time @Cristiano #afc.”

A deal for the forward seems unlikely, given how Mikel Arteta and Edu have recruited in recent years. However, there are still plenty of twists and turns left in the transfer window.
