Manchester United are preparing their response to Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive interview in which he voiced strong opinions about the club and manager in an interview with Piers Morgan.
The five-time Ballon d'Or took aim at Erik ten Hag, the Glazers family and a number of his teammates. The striker now faces an increasingly uncertain future at United as his relationship with Erik ten Hag seemingly hangs by a thread.
The Red Devils are said to be 'furious' after being caught by surprise with the TV interview, in addition to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner claiming that he felt 'betrayed' by the club. Plenty of teams are likely to be interested in his signature, with Chelsea one of the sides heavily linked with a move for the 37-year-old.

Man United release fresh statement
Following his interview, in which he took aim at Ten Hag, United chiefs and the Glazers family, the club have now released the following statement: "Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo's recent media interview.
"We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion."
Potter has already given Ronaldo verdict
Ronaldo left Old Trafford early after ten Hag refused to bring him on against Tottenham Hotspur last month, something Chelsea boss Graham Potter was later asked about in a press conference of his own.
"Well, I can't really comment because I don't know the ins and outs," he said. "But he's [ten Hag] taken his stance. Sometimes you have to do that.
"And then you need the club's support, and from the outside, that's what has happened.
"Well, it's difficult for me to comment because I don't know the actual context, I don't know what's really happened, I don't want to go off headlines and things like that. Part of the job is to take some decisions that are difficult, but that's normal."

Potential legal action
According to the Mirror, United are seeking legal advice, and Ronaldo could be sacked if his behaviour is judged to be 'a serious enough breach of discipline'. The Portugal captain could even be offloaded before the January transfer window opens, meaning he will be a free agent.
