Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has said he is fully focused on helping his side claim the first-place spot in their Europa League group ahead of their Real Sociedad clash.
Erik ten Hag's side go to Spain with a simple equation that will see them finish top of their group. United need to win by at least two goals if they are to surpass Sociedad as the current group leaders, and the Dutchman knows just how important achieving that feat is.
The first-placed team will receive a bye past the next round, avoiding a play-off fixture with a third-placed side from the Champions League in February. In an already congested season, this could be crucial for the Reds later in the campaign.

Ronaldo started United's last match against West Ham, as he played the full 90 minutes during the 1-0 win at Old Trafford. Despite Anthony Martial's return to training this week, the Frenchman was not deemed fit enough to travel with squad for their trip to Spain.
The former Real Madrid man has a phenomenal goalscoring record in Spain, something that Ten Hag will be hoping his forward can replicate once again. Ronaldo appears to have his focus solely on the matter at hand, despite the recent off-field incidents, as he took to Instagram to send a rallying cry to the rest of his teammates.
Alongside a picture of himself in training, he wrote: "Back to Spain, with the mind always set on winning and our full focus on getting the first place in our group. Let's go, Devils! We are United!"
