Cristiano Ronaldo and his sister, Katia Aveiro, have taken to Instagram following Erik ten Hag's decision to drop the striker from the Manchester United squad to face Chelsea this afternoon. The 37-year-old refused to come on against Tottenham Hotspur as goals from Bruno Fernandes and Fred held the north Londoners to a 2-0 defeat.
He then proceeded to march down the tunnel and leave Old Trafford before the final whistle. As a result of his actions, the Red Devils boss suspended the Portugal international from the first-team.
Ronaldo has already broken his silence on the saga via his Instagram, claiming that he will continue to work hard and be ready whenever called upon. And, he since retaken to the platform ahead of United's clash with Chelsea.

On a post to his story, accompanied by the applause and arm-flexed emoji, the Portuguese star wrote: "Let's go @manchesterunited."
Ronaldo's sister, on the other hand, posted a far more extraordinary message as she reacted to Ten Hag's handling of her brother. She wrote: "No-one who was born to shine by the hands of God will be undone by someone who has never worn his shoes."
Aveiro continued by claiming that the Dutchman - and fellow United fans - are 'nailing him to the cross'. She added: "No-one who was born to shine by the hands of God will be undone by someone who has never worn his shoes.
"He is and will be history. There is a verse in the bible that says: 'This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross."
Despite the ongoing saga which has - naturally - cast doubt over Ronaldo's future at United, Ten Hag has admitted that he does not expect the striker to leave in January. Speaking ahead of the Chelsea tie, the Red Devils boss was asked whether he thought the he would remain at United and whether he wanted him to stay.
Ten Hag replied: "Both. "It [dropping Ronaldo] is for this game and then we continue - it's a strike," Ten Hag added. "As we said in the statement, Cristiano remains an important part of the squad and I count on him for the rest of the season. We want to fulfil our ambitions."
