Cristiano Ronaldo's true transfer value revealed as Chelsea prepare £14m bid for Man United star

With Chelsea reportedly preparing a £14m opening offer for Cristiano Ronaldo, will that be enough to tempt Man United into selling their iconic number 7 this summer?

The Red Devils still remain adamant that they do not wish to cash in on the Portuguese international with one year remaining on his current deal, but the dangers of not granting him his Champions League wish could be catastrophic. Ronaldo is currently away from Man United's pre-season preparations due to family reasons. His exile so far has seen him spotted in Lisbon at the Portugal National teams' camp, with the reasons for his visit still unknown.

There is a real danger that the 37-year-old may not even make the flight for when Erik ten Hag's side hit the skies for Australia on the weekend. At the same time, Thomas Tuchel's side flies to the USA for their own tour. Amid all the speculation surrounding his absence from Carrington, it is understood that his desire and will to leave is very strong. Despite United's tough stance, recent reports seem to indicate that they are preparing for the worst in this situation.

According to Goal's Bruno Andrade, the Glazer family are willing to cash in for Ronaldo if his decision doesn't change. They are set to open negotiations with interested parties at around £13m.

This ties in perfectly with what Pete O'Rourke has reported as he's suggested that Todd Boehly is preparing a £14m bid which could well and truly open up these negotiations despite United not wanting to sell to a direct Premier League rival.

However, with Bayern Munich ruling themselves out and PSG not wanting the 'bling' factor anymore, the Blues could have a somewhat free run at trying to poach the six-time Ballon d'Or winner, but how much will they need to pay to secure this dream signing?

As per Transfermarkt, they value Ronaldo at around £27m, which is nearly £10m more than what the CIES Football Observatory state his current market value is in their estimation. Nevertheless, if a £14m proposal was to be accepted, Boehly could save a potential £13m on a transfer swoop for the Portuguese icon.
