Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister takes another swipe at Erik ten Hag after Man United vs Spurs snub

The sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, Elma Aveiro, has reacted to Erik ten Hag’s decision not to introduce her brother from the bench in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Tottenham.

The Manchester United striker headed down the tunnel before full-time and has consequently been dropped from Saturday's trip to Chelsea. Ronaldo has started just two Premier League matches this season, scoring just one league goal.

The veteran, who handed in a transfer request over the summer, is considered Ten Hag's third-choice forward behind Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Aveiro hit out at the decision to substitute her brother in Sunday's goalless draw with Newcastle. She posted an Instagram story of Ronaldo’s substitution with two vomit emojis.

And she again took to social media to defend her brother after Wednesday's win over Spurs. Aveiro re-shared a post which said: “ Cristiano does not need to prove anything.

“Who has to prove something still in football is Erik ten Hag and fulfil his word, that if you wanted Cristiano in the squad to use it and that you have respect for the career by not putting him in the humiliating defeat and for City. Next game against Chelsea let’s see what happens.”

She then re-shared another post which read: “You are a giant, Cristiano! He has proven many times that he is the best in history and I believe he will continue to prove himself. Anyone who doubts your greatness will bow down before you again.”
