Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum has rubbished claims of relationship problems between the football star and Georgina Rodriguez.
Hurtful Spanish and Portuguese media reports last month alleged the former Manchester United superstar was “fed up” with the Spanish model and that they could be on the verge of splitting up.
Georgina, 29, responded by denying a rift with her partner-of-seven-years, writing in a social media post: “The jealous one invents a rumour, the gossipy one spreads it and the idiot believes it.” Days later Cristiano, 38, posted a romantic snap on his Instagram showing him kissing the stunning brunette as they shared a meal and a drink and writing: “Cheers to love.”
Dolores Aveiro, 68, pooh-poohed any suggestion the Real Madrid legend’s relationship with Georgina was on the rocks overnight by branding the claims “lies” as she attended a shop opening in her native Madeira.
She told press covering the event she had been invited to in the island capital Funchal: “It’s all lies.
“Every couple argues, but what’s been written is a lie.”
Cristiano’s doting mum has already visited the superstar and his family in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh where they are now based.
She jetted to the Middle East in February shortly after the dad-of-five moved into his new home with Georgina and their children after checking out of their rooms at the plush Four Seasons hotel Kingdom Centre.
They stayed there for several weeks after the former Manchester United striker, who parted ways with the club following his controversial Piers Morgan interview, sealed his £173m-a-year move to Saudi side Al-Nassr.
Among the claims aired in Spanish media was one on TV programme Socialite saying Cristiano was “fed up” with Georgina because of the time she devoted to spending money in a Riyadh shopping centre.
Spanish TikToker Abel Planelles went on to claim a fan had told him the couple had a massive row just before boarding a plane.
Georgina spoke about her love for Cristiano, who she met and started dating in June 2016 after he walked into a Gucci store in Madrid where she was working, in the recently-released second series of her hit Netflix show ‘I Am Georgina.’
In a Spanish TV interview ahead of the release, she gushed: “Cristiano is marvellous. He’s a wonderful father, a wonderful son, brother, friend and partner, boss and employee because he’s an employee as well. He’s fantastic in every sense of the word.
“Sometimes we’re at home eating and I look at him and think ‘How lucky I feel to be the one he’s chosen to create this wonderful family’ and I go to bed really happy.”
