Cristiano Ronaldo was left fuming in the first half of Manchester United 's clash with Atletico Madrid after he was denied a penalty by referee Ovidiu Hategan.
The Red Devils were toiling in their pursuit of a Champions League quarter-final place after Joao Felix's wonderful early header.
Ronaldo was at the forefront of United's efforts to get back into the game but was unable to do much in the first half with Atletico limiting his side to precious little in the final third.
However the Portugal star was adamant he should have had a penalty when he broke through the defence and was stopped in his tracks by an Atletico defender.
The referee gave nothing and a furious Ronaldo was seen protesting vigorously.
In a frustrating first half for Ronaldo and his teammates, a potential handball from Renan Lodi and a professional foul from Hector Herrera that eluded a booking also left United exasperated.
But it was the La Liga side who went into the half-time break with the advantage.
