Cristiano Ronaldo ready for Man Utd exit talks as meeting with agent scheduled

Cristiano Ronaldo will hold talks with his agent next month as he considers leaving Manchester United.

The Portuguese superstar has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford since returning last summer and wants to meet Jorge Mendes to discuss what his options might be at the end of the season.

Ronaldo is hoping to have face-to-face talks with Mendes when he returns to Portugal in March for his national team's crunch World Cup qualifier with Turkey.

As exclusively revealed last month, Ronaldo is considering his future at United while he waits to discover who the next permanent manager will be.

Since then he has suffered a dramatic dip in form after struggling to form a positive relationship with interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

The Portuguese superstar has failed to score in his last five games, seen United crash out of the FA Cup to Middlesbrough and found himself dropped for Tuesday's disappointing draw at rock-bottom Burnley.

Ronaldo has a contract until 2023 - but has been waiting to see who the club appoint as the next permanent boss.

He has let it be known he wouldn't support Rangnick's appointment, while he has no experience of having played under fellow targets Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag.

In a recent interview Ronaldo admitted he feared his dream return to United from Juventus last summer was in danger of turning into a nightmare.

New chief executive officer Richard Arnold is still hoping to persuade Ronaldo to take up the option of a 12-month extension to his current £500,000-a-week deal.

But he faces a losing battle, with Ronaldo keen to explore which other clubs might be prepared to offer him an escape route in the summer transfer window.
