Cristiano Ronaldo 'offered mega-money Man Utd exit' by Inter Miami but they have catch

David Beckham's Inter Miami outfit could offer Cristiano Ronaldo a route of out Manchester United.

The Portuguese star made his desire to quit Old Trafford known in the summer, but he was unable to secure an exit after the club made it clear he wouldn't be sold. Erik ten Hag has used Ronaldo sporadically, though, handing him just one Premier League start so far.

Ronaldo was an unused sub in last weekend's humiliating Manchester derby, with the player's frustration continuing to grow. At 37 there is not a host of suitors for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and a move to the MLS may appeal with a mammoth £30m salary on the table, according to the Daily Star.

Inter Miami, managed by Ronaldo's former teammate Phil Neville, and owned by Beckham, have recently entered the MLS picture and have been linked with several superstar names. Their top earner, Gonzalo Higuain, has announced he will call time on his career leaving the franchise looking for a new marquee player.

The only condition the American side have is that Ronaldo joins them on a free, which would mean United forgoing any transfer fee. If the Manchester outfit are to consider selling their player in the New Year, it is thought they would seek around £10m.

United's top brass appear prepared to keep Ronaldo for the remainder of the season though, even if Ten Hag does use him as a squad player. The Portuguese star is likely to push for a January exit however having spent much of the current campaign on the bench.

Ronaldo was accused of having a negative impact on the United squad once he returned last term. There has been no reports of infighting this term, but if that was to change then Ten Hag may be willing to green light his exit if he wants to preserve harmony within the playing group.

The former Real Madrid man has only scored once this term, that strike coming in the Europa League, which leaves him out of form heading into what could be his final World Cup with Portugal. Ronaldo struggled to have an impact in the recent international break.

Ten Hag has claimed that, whilst Ronaldo is not happy at his lack of minutes, he is not actively pushing to leave. He said: "I don't see that he is unhappy. He is happy, he is training well and he is enjoying." The Dutchman continued: "He's not happy that he didn't play Sunday, don't get me wrong, but the question was about his mood in training, where he's happy. Of course, he wants to play and he's p***** off when he's not playing."
