Cristiano Ronaldo joins local gym as Man Utd icon leaves residents stunned

Cristiano Ronaldo is the latest member to join a public gym in Cheshire which has stunned some of the locals.

The Manchester United star will pay £255 per month to workout at the Cpase health club in Knutsford. That is top end price for a public gym with Everton's Jordan Pickford and Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers among the members. Ronaldo has a home gym whilst he also stays late to do extras at the club's training ground.

But he now has another place to train after joining the exclusive gym, which has its member numbers capped at around 800, according to the Telegraph. The facility was opened in October by Clare Stobart, a member of the Stobart family that founded the hugely successful haulage business.

Ronaldo posted a picture of himself and his son Cristiano junior in the gym’s cryotherapy chamber on his Instagram. The forward has another year left on his deal at Old Trafford with speculation continuing over his future as new boss Erik ten Hag begins his work.

The Portuguese superstar was signed last summer, just months after United finished second in the Premier League. Since the 37-year-old's arrival though the team have declined and will miss out on the Champions League. There has been criticism that Ronaldo's arrival has adversely affected the team's dynamics.

United's No 7 recently walked off the Old Trafford pitch for the final time this season following a win over Brentford. Ronaldo scored in the success and reportedly said the words "I'm not finished" to a camera, however he has since come out and denied he said such things.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Will Ronaldo still be at Man Utd next season? Let us know in the comments

New boss Ten Hag has already said: "From tomorrow (Monday), my focus will be on United, and I will of course get deep into things there. What I have to say about it is, the detailed analysis still has to begin, I still have to work with the team, but let me be clear that at United there are a lot of good players around. We have to make them function as a team but definitely Ronaldo, he is a giant."

Ten Hag has also confessed that he had other offers but opted for a move to Old Trafford due to the challenge it presented. “I had choices to work at a different club, with a better foundation,” the Dutchman told De Telegraaf. "But I chose Man United. Things have to get addressed there and that’s a challenge. The club and I are on the same wavelength about how I want to do this.”
