Cristiano Ronaldo insists ‘everything else is just noise’ as Man United return to winning ways

Cristiano Ronaldo stressed “everything else is just noise” after ending his goal drought during Manchester United’s win over Brighton on Tuesday evening.

The forward scored the opener before Bruno Fernandes ensured United moved back into the top four in 2-0 victory at Old Trafford, his first goal in five games.

Much has been made about the United’s squad’s feelings towards interim manager Ralf Rangnick and his staff with recent reports suggests sections of the playing staff had taken to mocking assistant coach, Chris Armas.

Club legend and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville criticised such behaviour, only adding to the sense of instability at the club.

“They are at it, the PR teams, the agents and the marketing teams, as a self-preservation for their own player,” he said.

“But what they do not realise is that unfortunately, when they go to the media then those media people go to us – so we know who is briefing.

“The reality is that we do not like it, but we know who it is.”

Ronaldo, however, moved to downplay any suggestion there were problems behind the scenes.

“Nobody gives up and there’s only one way to get back on track: hard work, team work, serious work,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Everything else is just noise.”
