Cristiano Ronaldo identifies the three things he's doing to turn things around at Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo has posted on social media hailing a "great training session" with his Manchester United teammates as he attempts to drive the team forward.

The Portuguese superstar made the move back to Old Trafford in the summer following 12 years away with Real Madrid and Juventus. He took back the No 7 shirt upon his return but matters on the pitch have not gone as planned with the Red Devils battling to make the top four.

Ronaldo is known for raising standards and continue to perform impressively at 37, scoring 18 times for United this term. He is the only man in double figures but has copped criticism despite his exploits in front of goal. He has shared an image on social media of himself in the gym with compatriot Diogo Dalot.

He said: "Work hard, focus on the everyday goals, enjoy the moments with your friends. Great training session with my boy Dalot! Keep fighting!" Ronaldo's work rate has never been in doubt whilst his desire to continue winning individual and team goals has been evident for well over a decade.

Ronaldo missed United's last outing as they dropped more points in the race for the Champions League. Leicester City came to Old Trafford and were good value for a point as VAR denied them a winner late on. The 37-year-old was absent through illness.

In his last Premier League game the forward reminded everyone of his quality, scoring a hat-trick as United beat top four rivals Tottenham. It was only Ronaldo's second treble in the Premier League and came more than ten years after his first, which was against Newcastle in 2008.

Will Man Utd finish in the top four? Let us know in the comments

Ronaldo has embroiled himself in a spat with former teammate Wayne Rooney, who suggested that his return to Manchester has not gone to plan with United dipping noticeably since last season. He said on Sky Sports: "He's scored goals, important goals in the Champions League early on in the season. He scored obviously the hat trick against Tottenham.

"But I think if you're looking to the future of the club, you have to go with younger, hungry players to lift Manchester United over these next two or three years." Rooney posted a picture of himself and Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football on social media.

Ronaldo replied to the post with: "Two jealous" following Rooney's observations about him. The Derby County boss has since responded saying: "Who isn't jealous of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner? There's probably not a football player on the planet that isn't jealous of Cristiano."
