Cristiano Ronaldo has major Man Utd problem in the wake of brutal Bruno Fernandes snub

Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive interview with Piers Morgan was always likely to have major repercussions for the beleaguered Manchester United star.

The Portuguese veteran was offered an olive branch by Erik ten Hag after storming off in a strop before the conclusion of last month's win over Tottenham, but Ronaldo's relationship with the Dutchman is surely now broken beyond repair after he insisted that he does not respect the Old Trafford chief during the unsanctioned 90-minute discussion.

Ronaldo also claimed that he feels "betrayed" by the club over how he has been treated this term before taking aim at a number of high-profile names linked to United - and unsurprisingly, his comments have not gone down too well.

That was evident when he was reunited with Bruno Fernandes on Monday. The Manchester United teammates are both prominent figures in the Portugal squad, who are travelling to Qatar for the World Cup.

But they looked nothing like teammates during an awkward clip that has since gone viral, with Fernandes initially walking past Ronaldo before acknowledging him briefly and walking off.

While Ronaldo may be spared from a similar exchange with some of his other Old Trafford colleagues due to the mid-season break, a fresh report has outlined that Fernandes is unlikely to be the only Manchester United star to give Ronaldo a frosty reception ahead of the New Year.

A fresh report from The Sun has outlined that 'several' of Ronaldo's teammates are 'finished with him' in the wake of his latest misdemeanour. That stance, along with his brutal comments on Ten Hag, means it is unlikely that the striker will be reintegrated into the Manchester United squad following the World Cup.

Mirror Football understands that the club are currently taking legal advice in the wake of Ronaldo's astonishing rant and are even ready to sack the multi-time Ballon d'Or winner for his brutal comments in the unsanctioned interview.

However, with United unwilling to agree to any sort of severance package to get the forward off the books, ripping up Ronaldo's lucrative contract six months early could be easier said than done.

According to The Telegraph, there is a suspicion that Ronaldo will demand that the final few months of his £560,000-a-week contract be paid up.

While the club continue to deliberate over their course of action, they did release a statement acknowledging Ronaldo's comments on Monday, which read: "Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.

"The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established. Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans."
