Cristiano Ronaldo denies 'I'm not finished' message as fresh doubt thrown on Man United future

Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown fresh doubt over his Manchester United future after denying sending a message following the win over Brentford.

Ronaldo continued his fine run of form as he scored from the spot during United’s 3-0 win over Brentford in the final home game of the season. The goal took the Portuguese ace’s tally in the league to 18 for the season, with 24 in all competitions.

There is still some doubt though over the 37-year-old’s future with the Reds. With United looking set to miss out on Champions League football next season, speculation has been rife that Ronaldo will leave the club during the summer, despite still having a year left on his contract.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner though seemed to drop a big hint over his future following Monday’s win at Old Trafford. As he began a lap around the pitch to show his appreciation to the home crowd, the Sky Sports cameras zoomed in on him as he said something.

Ronaldo appeared to be saying ‘I’m not finished’, leading some fans to suggest he may be planning on staying at United next season. The man himself though has disputed the message.

Commenting on Instagram to a fan account relaying the ‘I’m not finished’ message, Ronaldo replied: “I didn’t say that.” The Portugal international’s reaction throws doubt over what he might have said instead, as well as creating more speculation over his future.

Having returned to the club last summer, fans are now questioning whether they may have seen Ronaldo’s last appearance at Old Trafford. United interim manager Ralf Rangnick though believes he will stay put.

“I don’t think why it should be a wave of goodbye,” Rangnick told Stadium Astro. “He’s got another year of his contract, and as far as I know he will be here next season again.”
